The plugin is meant to help you with academic work, to facilitate searching for articles on the web after their DOI. Focus on writing a scientific paper. The add-on searches on DOI websites (according to the programmed scheme).

DOI are turned into links - which are easy to click and notice. After clicking, they can be opened / sent to any URL (i.e. a web address, what is called for ease - a content aggregator). Such an aggregator can download the details of the literature - this is the title, authors, scientific journal, the year of the article's edition after DOI, and sometimes even a full article! All to facilitate the citation of the literature. The aggregator can also attach an article for further observation, search for similar articles, and join the local library. The operation depends mainly on the chosen configuration - both the plug-in and the used aggregator.

The plugin is a supplement for great tools like Mendeley (https://mendeley.com - freeware) or EndNote (https://endnote.com/product-details/) (names reserved for their owners) and streamlines the search for scientific materials. Finding them has never really been so easy ...
