Active Pinned Tabs

When this extension is enabled, pinned tabs will be automatically moved to the current window.

When this extension is enabled, pinned tabs will be automatically moved to the current window.

You can pin frequently used tabs (music player, email, IM, etc.) and use them in multiple windows without having to switch to the window where the tab was originally pinned.

Note: Please use "close tabs to the right" instead of "close window", otherwise the pinned tabs in the current window will be closed as well.

I've always been annoyed that pinned tabs don't show up in new windows (or that there is no option to make them appear). However, this extension doesn't do that either. Instead, the pinned tabs are moved (not copied) to the new window, so they are gone when you switch back to the window they were pinned in. So you still have them pinned only in one window at a time. Perhaps worst of all, unless you remember to "close tabs to the right" when you close the new the tabs are now pinned in, they disappear along with the window. Too bad about the many years of muscle memory… Also, there is an annoying delay when closing the window with the pinned tabs. In sum, at least for me the extension replaces a problem I was looking to solve with a bigger one. If you don't mind or even want the described behavior the extension works fine.

Extension safety

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Active Pinned Tabs requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.

This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Browser Add-ons, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.
