The original image is a scan of authentic tartan material from Scotland. The levels were adjusted to improve contrast with the text and to create a rich, dark look.

This is a single-color theme (if you consider turquoise, aquamarine, and teal to basically be a single color) that is very restful. I grew up near the ocean, and I miss seeing the surf as it washes up on the shore. This theme reminds me of that.
