User reviews
It was about a year ago. "Mystic Crystal" by NSP had recently been released, and I'd been boppin with it for the whole week. I then I looked up the lyrics, which led me to going to that'syourjam to see if I could remember the song by that point enough to type out the lyrics. I had heard of the site before a few years ago (on an old Vsauce d.o.n.g. video I think) and saved it as a bookmark. I saw the lyrics weren't there, so I for the first time created an account and put them up myself, making sure I was accurate and everything, comparing with other lyric sites. I had so much fun writing it and just as much fun typing it all back as the first score for other people to beat. That's when I really realised how fun this game was; mastering the list of recommended popular songs, challenging yourself with songs you don't fully know, or songs with a long list of words like eminem or something, I sort of fell back into it, not even sure why I ever stopped. It's genius. But, now I may never get the chance again to say "Hey, lemme test this song out on that'syourjam!" A lot has happened since that year. Covid and all that jazz, 2020 being 2020, and I'm not afraid to say it, I became a man in the time between now and that year, so I really saw this site as a part of my childhood. But now I see that the domain of that'syourjam.com has been bought by some company and the links from the chrome store and my old bookmark isn't working, so I'm fearing the worst. Now, I read reviews while searching for it, seeing how much it was struggling and got so little attention than it really deserved. I'm listening to a new song by NSP, "Wondering Tonight", and I'm likewise wondering tonight, wondering if I'll ever get to write these lyrics and put them up, wondering if I'll ever even see this site again, this site that made me so happy that the internet even existed. Because OF COURSE speedrunning typing up your favorite song lyrics is a thing on the internet! And OF COURSE it's inherently fun and it got its own little community and leaves you wondering how you managed to escape a site like this for so long! I know it's silly of me to write so much over one little website game, but dammit if I don't wanna see it go. If there is the slightest chance of hope that "That's Your Jam" will ever come back, please let it be real. There must be something that can be done to archive it or put it under a different domain or keep the servers running somehow. Because I'm not ready to see it end, and I hope you aren't either.
I think it's a great idea. I picked 2 songs. The first wasn't listed, it was an 80's song. And the second was there, but wouldn't come up under the song title, just the artist. Then when I tried to get it to work I got an error message to try again later. So, again, good idea, need to work out the kinks. Plus, I think it would be much better if you added the background music, that's what would make a big difference.
I made this site. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
