2024-11-12 | Luigi Galli | en | I'm on a 7-day free trial and a Lifetime Membership is just around the corner in a few days but the Lingopie extension for Netflix doesn't work for me. In fact if a disable the "allow automatic access to the following sites" with regard to Netflix in the extension control panel I'm able to log in, but without Lingopie integration. If I keep it enabled (as it should be) integration works but a netflix window pops up (Digital Advertising Alliance, third parties cookies...) and stays there no matter what I do, it's NOT clickable, doesn't go away...Netflix works, extension makes it log in automatically, I see the split screen integration underneath the window but I am blocked and before you say it...my PC is free from AdAware. I'm still a student guys making an effort to write this review, I'm not so fluent, I still use the dictionary... I sent you a couple of emails but I haven't received an answer as of yet. As a constructive feedback I have to say the site lacks a bit of english content (I'm italian learning english), especially for me not being able to profit from netflix integration, also word translation has to be improved, you cannot extract the translation for a single word out of a subtitle! There are loads of idiomatic expression to be taken under consideration! It would be awesome for the user to be able to make a selection of an expression to make it become a flashcard. Pls. get back to me about that, otherwise I may be forced to turn down Lingopie offer.

2024-11-03 | Andrew Lakin | en | I wanted to rate this 5 stars but I realised 4 is more likely to get read. Plus as somebody else mentioned, the tranlsations aren't always 100% accurate. The content is great but bear in mind, Netflix doesn't always update their foreign language shows if you're not based in that country. So maybe a yearly subscription isn't the best idea. There are probably around 20-60 shows and films available depending on your language. But those shows may be the same for a few years. Still enough time to get through them all in a year. Especially if you're studying the language. NOTE: If you go on Netflix for the first time and the cookie message comes up, you need to disable LingoPie extension to get rid of it. Then swtich it back on That's all the possible issues. The extension itself is great. It gives a plethora of media and you can simply hover over the subtitles to pause the show. The word you hover over will be translated (it's dual subtitles, your mother tongue and your target language). You then click on the word and it's saved to your vocab to LingoPie from Netflix where you can later study the words using the LingoPie games on the app or website. I'm a linguist who can speak 10 languages and I couldn't recommend this enough, if you can get past the issues mentioned previously. But don't let that put you off. Give it a try. I even think there's a free trial for new users. Andy
2024-10-22 | Marcus Baer | en | The glossary is fairly quick and accurate, but it is AI and it sometimes misinterprets things because it only responds to the sentence selected, and can't respond based on the context, which can totally change the translation. I do love using the extension though, it's such an easy way to immerse myself into German. It has also worked with every single German show I have tried to watch.
