What is VocabBoost?

VocabBoost is a Chrome extension designed to supercharge your language learning process. It turns any website into an interactive language test, allowing you to learn vocabulary from context, at your own pace and according to your interests. Simply select the text and create your test with convenient features like 'Show choices' and 'Check answers'. The extension supports all languages except Chinese and Korean. It's free and in beta version, user feedback is highly valued.

How to make a test:

Open a website
Select the text with your mouse
Right click
Choose "Make a test"
If you think the test is too hard, click "Show choices". You can drag the words into the test.
Once you are ready to grade, click "Check answers".
If you want to see all answers, click "Show answers".
To make a new test, please refresh the page.

One of the best extensions. I work as an English teacher. I use it all the time. The only problem I can think of is that there isn't any keyboard shortcut to quickly add new word to the list.

As an ESL instructor, I'm always looking for more tools that my students can use to help with their learning. This tool is very easy to use and is quite accessible. I find that the fill-in-the-blank/cloze answers are great for students who also want to practice their inference skills, and the availability of drag-and-drop answers is also helpful. As the other review mentions, the words selected sometimes feel a bit arbitrary, but I'm willing to overlook that for the ease of practice and accessibility this will offer to my students.
