Summary

Mail 3.0: End-to-end encryption for Gmail

Mail 3.0 is a Chrome plugin that automatically encrypts and decrypts your Gmail e-mails, with the click of a button.

When you download the plugin and open Gmail or Google Inbox, you will receive a secret passphrase. This passphrase will encrypt your outgoing e-mails when you choose to use Mail 3.0. It will also automatically decrypt incoming messages that are sent from other Mail 3.0 users and encrypted.

Mail 3.0 uses advanced cryptography to ensure that your messages are private and secure. We use Elliptic Curve Integrated Encryption Scheme for secure encryption and decryption. This ensures that only the intended recipients (and yourself) can ever view the contents of your messages.

Mail 3.0 is free to use and we do not store your private key or passphrase. We only keep track of our users' public key and e-mail address to facilitate secure messaging. To encrypt messages, you have to click the Mail 3.0 icon, which means that you are free to avoid encryption when you so choose.

We believe that e-mail should be secure and private, just as snail mail is. After all, the USPS doesn't keep a physical copy of all of your letters, do they? Similarly, we believe that you alone should keep an inventory of your messages. Mail 3.0 enables users to maintain their privacy in this way.

User reviews
Doesn't do a thing, according to the instructions, I'm supposed to get a passphrase soon after I install the extension and open my gmail inbox, but I get nothing. The instructions also say to compose an email as normal, then hit the 'Mail' icon to encrypt it, nope, doing that only shows a drop down menu to either open the web page, remove the extension, etc etc,,, sooo, nope it don't work, sorry!!!!!

Biased (I helped make it!) but I think the app is very useful and I use it for my communications.
