HashMaps

Adding Google Maps search to your address bar.

HashMaps is a Chrome extension that enhances your browsing experience by enabling direct Google Maps searches from your address bar. Simply type '#' followed by your query to quickly find places or get directions without the need to open maps.google.com.

Key features include saving frequently used addresses like 'Home' or 'Work', allowing for convenient queries such as "home to McGill University." It also offers dynamic location suggestions powered by the Google Maps API, ensuring efficient and privacy-conscious searching. This extension streamlines map searches, especially useful in slow internet environments or for users who prefer quick access through the browser's omnibox.

I like this app

I just love the HashMaps extension. We all love the fact that we can google directly from our address book, right? HashMaps gives you access to google maps using your address bar. And don't worry, it does not need any special permissions so its pretty convenient to install and use.

Extension safety

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

HashMaps requires very minimum permissions.

Risk likelihood
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Chrome extension may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Chrome extension reputation on Chrome Web Store, the amount of time the Chrome extension has been around, and other signals about the Chrome extension. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Chrome extension.

HashMaps has earned a fairly good reputation and likely can be trusted.
