Outliner

Outline the page.

Outliner is a handy Chrome extension that generates a dynamic table of contents by extracting all the headings from any webpage. Many websites lack a clear in-page navigation menu; Outliner resolves this by providing users with an interactive outline sidebar.

Simply click the Outliner button next to the address bar to activate the outline panel. Users can then click any heading in the outline to jump directly to that section. The panel can be closed with a simple click on the cross button. Outliner requires access to your data on websites only to inject this outline but respects your privacy by not tracking usage.

Perfect for readers and researchers who want to quickly skim or jump to specific parts of web pages, Outliner enhances browsing efficiency while being lightweight and open source under the MIT license. Feedback and bug reports are welcomed via GitHub to improve compatibility across websites.

Recent reviews
Simple, but that's good when you have very large documents to outline, and other outliners are too slow.

I think Turbo Outliner is better and quicker, but it too lacks options. HeadingsMap is even more accurate.

Extension safety

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Outliner requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.

This is determined by the publisher and the Chrome extension reputation on Chrome Web Store, the amount of time the Chrome extension has been around, and other signals about the Chrome extension. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Chrome extension.
