| 2023-09-29 |  | | When trying to open Audacity after the long annoying wait it came up with an error message saying that Audacity couldn't find a safe place to store temporary files. Trying different locations (/tmp. ~ as it's running on a remote Linux server) didn't work. I did manage to get it to load once with Edge but it's such a hassle to transfer files between the remote session and my local PC (not to mention clicking out of the browser window would close the session) that I gave up. I've got an ad-blocker installed which removed the ads but I suspect it's probably riddled with ads, the extension asked to show popups for a website so I wouldn't be surprised if I'd allowed that there would be numerous popups appear. I certainly wouldn't trust something like this in a school setting which I was investigating the extension for. In the end I found a better browser based solution called Twistedwave (twistedwave.com/online) which worked much better. |
