Extension summary

This extension lets you extract the message history of a chat on a very popular messaging platform (see the image...). It auto-scrolls through the chat and reads the page's source code for the message text as well as the surrounding metadata (sender name, time, etc.) when the UI provides it. The extension allows you to export the data in either a JSON or a plaintext format.

This extension may bring you joy if you wish to gather some statistics on your chat behavior.

User reviews

An absolute life-saver since no such option is possible with end-to-end encryption now in Messenger.

Facebook's data export too is ridiculous and time consuming. I need the data now, please! This works better and I can download chats as JSON. Immediate gratification.

Works, but would be nice if it exported time as well. It's all just: You: <message> They: <message> You: <message> They: <message> etc... repeated indefinitely, without any conceivable structure.
