2024-12-13 | Barney Pitt | en | The indexing seems to work perfectly. However I have three complaints about the search functionality. Firstly, it attempts to be clever and gives me matches it thinks are related to the search term. This works terribly. For example, a search for "residency" gave me 60 "hits" 56 of which were false-positives, (resident, residual [why ?!] , residences, residential, etc.). A "Verbatim" checkbox really needs to be added (sticky between uses). And even when not verbatim, the current "related" words functionality is too lenient. Secondly I don't much like the very verbose format, which lists every single line in which a search term (or "variant"!) occurs, so in some cases there are only 2 hits per page. I think this should be limited to 2 lines maximum (like Google does). Better still would be a "verbose" checkbox (sticky between uses) to toggle between the current maximal view and a minimal view which has only no matching lines (like chrome history search), or maybe just one matching line. Thirdly, there is no "Visited" date provided. For me this is an absolutely fundamental requirement to a history search. I would prefer it to behave like chrome history search, with time as a fixed width column, and "separator" lines between different dates. This could be a really nice extension with these features.
2024-10-17 | Deathrape2001 | en | Please add an option to not do anything other than permanently store the 'URL & title' history & nothing else, & or 'white list' & 'black list' so can define 'areas' to 'store' rather than 'every' site we ever visit. This can help avoid 'database bloat' if desired. SuperAwesome & should be a part of EVERY web browser that ever existed as the way it always works in the first place, with the option to disable or 'trim' the 'index' various ways to save space if the USER decides they want that. These options should be added to the extension, like ways to 'manage' the 'database' 2 remove stuff we don't care about, like 2 'black list' certain domains & so on, so doesn't collect 'texts' from them, etc. Also adding various 'search stings' would be nice, in plain regular language rather than code nonsense that is hard to understand. For example, should be able to say 'fluffy and pillows & blue & not cotton' or whatever, with words like 'and', '&', & 'not' being 'controls' (or could use buttons in the interface to select 'and' & 'not' & so on, like 'words & strings to exclude' vs another field that says 'words & strings to include (separated by commas) &/or with button to insert some kind of 'next element' thing. Just make it so anybody who is NOT a 'programmer' can easily figure it out, using regular launguage =) BTW: Another helpful thing would be a user option to select the 'database storage location' so that they can point other browsers to it & also not have to 'export & import' so often when switching or trying 2 'sync' things =) More ideas if U want 2 mail me at 'balkanguy (at) live (dot) com' =D

2024-01-05 | Tom Kersten | en | Works as expected. Big improvement over the default of only links/titles. Great job.
