2024-10-29 | Continental Nobleman | en | So far it seems to be removing those awful YouTube gaping-mouth face thumbnails and arrows, such a cliche they are. So am happy with it. Thanks and rgds.

2024-10-25 | Null Potential | en | @Gofer click extension> click "replace title" toggle.
2024-10-19 | Gofer | en | Yet another review pointing out that the replacement titles (and occasionally thumbnails) are often pretty bad. For some examples: A video about competitive Generation 1 Pokemon's OU (OverUsed tier) having its title changed from "Recent Developments in RBY OU" to "Discussing New RNG Discoveries, Additions, and Viability Shifts in RBY OverUsed". The new title stretches the "Developments" to several words for no good reason (titles getting longer but not actually saying more is a big problem with this extension) and doesn't even explain what "RBY" is, which is a part of the original title that *could* be confusing to some. In another case, "One Drunken Mistake Destroyed Finland's Scummiest Hacker" to "Explaining the story of Julius Kivimaki of Lizard Squad, and how he got caught". While the changed title succeeds at making it less clickbaity, it removes context. I don't know Julius Kivimaki or what a Lizard Squad is. The new title gives me less information about the video. These are just two examples out of hundreds. And yes, you can downvote the bad titles and upvote the ones you like, but at that point you're engaging an endless uphill battle with people making these titles instead of having the extension actually improve your YT experience. Good in theory, doesn't work out in practice.
2024-10-09 | Agent OranJ | en | It's about a 50/50 as to whether the replacement titles are a descriptive improvements or just dull. DeArrow titles can be long winded doorstoppers and they can be overly concise and utterly generic. And frankly if a DeArrow title makes anyone click on a video they wouldn't have clicked on otherwise then that is a bad thing because the uploader doesn't deserve the increased viewership.

2024-09-28 | Iver Bogen Griffiths | en | I think this is gonna be really good for me, but I would like it if DeArrow didn't change lower case letters to upper case in the start of every single word.
2024-09-25 | Afonso Gonçalves | en | It's exactly what I expected, with one exception: Some perfectly reasonable, non-clickbaity videos are getting their titles reworded in weird, unnecessary ways, making the searching experience a bit clunkier than it could be. Still, it's definitely an upgrade from the sensacionalist bleh that we had. A suggestion: Enforce some slightly more solid guidelines on what constitutes a clickbait title. |
