2024-03-20 | The Gavitron | en | webp is vendor-lockin, and reminds me of how you used to have to struggle to find a GIF viewer too. Why don't operating systems and image viewers natively support webp? Does nobody remember how in July 1999, Unisys quietly posted a new policy on its Web site, requiring any Web developers using GIF who did not have a GIF license to get one for $5,000? JPeG and PNG for me please. | |
