en | Ever since this unresponsive moron pramajitkumar911 somehow hijacked the ownership of the smartUp Gestures extension in the Chrome Web Store at the end of December 2023 and "updated" this perfectly working extension, it is now in tatters and often doesn't work as expected anymore. Other than the now broken functionality, no new features or fixes have been introduced. To put it bluntly: This is not a rant, smartup Gestures was the *perfect*mouse gesture extension so far. As others pointed out before, the hijacker removed all references to the original author and their source GitHub project https://github.com/zimocode/smartup and new "versions" are not published with source code anymore. Considering the wide ranging privileges of the extension it is rather risky using it without transparency that data is not being shared fraudulently. smartup Gestures exists fully functional and unhijacked for Edge and Firefox, maintained by ZimoCode, which indicates that something is fishy here. But as usual, Google couldn't care less. Reporting this potentially fraudulent extension takeover resulted in no reaction or response whatsoever. If it was just a scarcely used extension, I could somehow understand that, but smartup Gestures is a "Featured" extension, used by thousands of potentially exploited Chrome users! |
