| 2025-01-21 |  | | en | On the plus side, this is a great little graphic equalizer/volume booster. And for free, it's about as good as it gets. I mean, this is no three-bands and that's all you get extension. It covers a wider range from top to bottom, the volume booster alone is worth the price of admission, and by some small miracle it all works well unlike some so-called volume boosters that are boosters in name-only. On the potentially negative side, this EQ extensions prompts an addonup.com tab to appear to the far left each time it's used making it easy to imagine that this extension is likely low-grade adware with malware aspirations. This pop-up tab, to the addonup.com site advertising a plethora of free Chrome extensions, is described as necessary to save setting for each active instance of the EQ extension but, as you'll see if you take it for a spin, it is really more of a gentle plead to please rate this extension and while you're at it look at all the other extensions compiled and uploaded for your potential usage. So, caveat emptor and all that but in my experience if it's stealing sensitive data it's not doing a very good job and in the meantime it meets or exceeds all my volume-boosting and low-to-high channel adjustment needs. And this is after I spent weeks experimenting with a large number of extensions, apps and services promising quality EQ adjustment and/or volume boosting yet delivering less-than-adequate performance the most amusing being the volume boosters, and they are legion, incapable of increasing even the volume of their pleading that you upgrade to the paid version. In short, if you can live with a fairly benign pop-up tab and don't want to spring for a paid equalizer and/or volume booster, Equalizer for Chrome Browser isn't the worst possible choice. In fact, it's surprisingly good. |
