X-Forwarded-For Header

This extension allows you quickly to set the X-Forwarded-For HTTP Header

The X-Forwarded-For Header Chrome extension enables users to quickly and easily set or modify the X-Forwarded-For HTTP header for testing purposes. By simply clicking the IP icon or adjusting the add-on options, users can input their desired IP address. Once set, this IP address is attached to all outgoing HTTP requests as the X-Forwarded-For header, enhancing testing workflows and allowing better simulation of client IPs. Clearing or resetting the IP ensures flexibility in usage. This streamlined tool is essential for developers and testers who need precise control over request headers without complex configuration.

User reviews

Users find the X-Forwarded-For Header add-on to be functional and straightforward for temporarily spoofing the header, particularly useful in testing scenarios. However, it lacks advanced features found in the Chrome version and could be improved by adding domain whitelisting and an easy on/off toggle to control header modification.
Pros
  • Effectively spoofs the X-Forwarded-For header as intended.
  • Simple to use for setting a temporary static value.
  • Useful for testing load balancer services.
Cons
  • Lacks features compared to the Chrome counterpart.
  • No whitelist option to limit domains for modified headers.
  • Could benefit from a quick toggle on/off function.

Not as full-featured as its Google Chrome counter-part, which has crossed the version 1 boundary and it seeing development still. But it did exactly what I needed it to do: temporarily spoof my X-Forwarded-For header in order to test a load balancer service I was working with. For people who just want to set a static temporary value for their X-Forwarded-For header, I would definitely recommend this plugin. Fifth star ready for the taking, if the latest version was to be pushed to AMO.
