visited link enabler

enables visited link colors on almost every website for easier browsing

Visited Link Enabler enhances your browsing experience by enabling visited link colors on nearly all websites. It uses carefully chosen colors inspired by Firefox options to improve visibility without being distracting. For PC users, a dark red shade (#990000) is used, while Android devices use a slightly adjusted color (#992020) to accommodate darker screens. This extension helps visually distinguish visited links for easier navigation and more efficient browsing.

On Android, there are no direct color options within the extension, but users can manually edit the visited link color through the browser's about:config settings, as explained in the accompanying images. Desktop users can also customize the visited link color if they prefer a specific shade. Enjoy a more intuitive and visually clear web browsing experience with Visited Link Enabler!

User reviews

'Visited Link Enabler' is a highly valued Firefox add-on praised for effectively enabling visited link coloring and being easy to use. However, multiple users report that the extension stopped working correctly following Firefox update 138, particularly affecting color customization and dark mode support. The add-on also lacks advanced features like site-specific settings or exclusion lists, which users frequently request. Accessibility of settings and handling of complex URL parameters are other noted issues. Overall, while well-liked, the extension requires updates and feature enhancements to restore full functionality and meet user needs.
Pros
  • Simple and practical way to enable visited link coloring.
  • Effective in its core function before recent Firefox updates.
  • Considered a must-have extension by many users.
  • Users appreciate the customization possibilities related to visited link colors.
  • Works well when Firefox settings are configured properly (e.g., browsing history enabled).
Cons
  • Stopped working properly after Firefox version 138 update.
  • Lacks advanced features like per-site settings, whitelists, or blacklists.
  • Issues with dark mode and custom color settings not functioning as expected.
  • Settings are sometimes inaccessible or hard to find.
  • Does not handle URL variations (like ref IDs) which affects coloring on certain sites.

It was a great addon, but for some time it seems not to work anymore. To change links colors I have to to enable Firefox's contrast feature, which changes many other parameters. Having "visited link enabler" enabled or not does not change the situation. Links have always FF default colors :-(

Works for me, the recent Fx update merely changed default color in my case (now it's purple instead my earlier red). One thing I really miss is black/whitelist and per-site settings. For example I could have red as visited, but on Wikipedia that could be green. It needs a new info on color settings: now it's Settings>General>Contrast settings>Custom>Manage colors (might differ due the translation of different locale). For dark theme use BG: [RGB 28 27 34] FG: [251 251 254] PS: I just realized the purple color in default (light or dark) theme in Fx comes from "accent color" in Windows. So you can either use custom theme or change windows settings.
