Les Utopiales

Both a public event and a gathering of professionals, Les Utopiales is considered the most important science fiction event in Europe and, worldwide, the second largest of its kind after San Diego Comic-Con.

Building on the legacy of Jules Verne and the city's surrealist past, Les Utopiales became a fixture in Nantes' cultural landscape at the very beginning of the new century. Since its inception, the festival has strived to open the imagination by inviting the public to discover the world of foresight and new technologies. Under the guise of dreams and escapism, science fiction becomes a tool for exploring reality and anticipating the future. It is with this sincere conviction that each edition is conceived.

The Utopiales festival brings together scientists, researchers, authors, screenwriters, illustrators, directors, and all those who, day after day, shape fabulous worlds from fragments of reality to create true thought experiments, awakening our curiosity and cultivating our imagination.

Each year, a central theme fosters a dialogue between literature, scientific research, cinema, comics, visual arts, role-playing games, video games, and manga, allowing for a wide range of reflections and offering a unique perspective on our past, present, and future.
