## Description

PassFF is a Firefox add-on that connects the unix password manager `pass` (passwordstore.org) to your browser. Once the companion native host is installed, PassFF can read your pass store, present matching entries in the browser, and optionally autofill and auto-submit login forms for a seamless sign-in experience.

This extension requires that you already use `pass` and have it configured on your system. Follow the project homepage instructions to install the native host application. PassFF is designed for existing `pass` users and is open source — see the project README and host installation guide on Codeberg for full setup and security details.

## Review summary

PassFF is valued for making the 'pass' password manager easier to use within Firefox, featuring a simple setup and reliable performance for many users. However, recurring issues include host app connection failures, limited format support, and occasional installation challenges. Despite some usability quirks, it remains a helpful tool for those seeking better Firefox integration with 'pass.'

### Pros

- Makes using the 'pass' password manager easier and more convenient.
- Simple and quick setup process, works well out of the box for many users.
- Provides a less complex interface for a typically command-line tool, making it more user-friendly.
- Reliable and effective for everyday usage as reported by several users.
- Enhances integration of 'pass' with Firefox, appreciated by users preferring to use 'pass' over built-in browser password managers.

### Cons

- Issues with connection to the host app leading to errors like 'Connection to the host app failed or returned an unexpected result!'.
- Limited compatibility: works only with two formats, and doesn't support some features like copying line numbers in entries.
- Installation of the host app can be problematic or fail silently for some users, leading to inability to use the add-on.
- UI quirks such as popup width being too small for some users with long directory paths in password entries.
