Block Site

Easily block websites of your choice!

Block Site is a convenient browser extension designed to help you block any websites you choose. By simply right-clicking on a webpage and selecting "Block this website," the domain is added to your block list, preventing access to unwanted sites. You can manage the block list via the options page, where you can also add redirect URLs for blocked domains, allowing you to redirect users to alternative websites seamlessly.

Additionally, Block Site offers the ability to block specific iframes by adding their URLs to the designated area in the settings. The extension emphasizes user convenience by integrating blocking functionality directly into the context menu, and it provides flexible controls for both blocking and redirection. For issue reporting or more details, users can visit the official homepage.

User reviews

Users appreciate Block Site for its effective blocking of websites and sub-sites without delay, simplicity, low resource usage, privacy respect, and redirection capabilities. However, multiple users report issues with inconsistent blocking on sites like Twitter, missing password protection, absence of an easy on/off toggle, and occasional delayed activation causing blocked sites to load briefly before being blocked.
Pros
  • Effectively blocks websites and sub-sites without flashing the site before blocking.
  • Simple and easy to use with straightforward setup.
  • Lightweight with low memory usage and minimal permissions.
  • Allows redirection to other sites after blocking.
  • Does not collect personal data, respecting user privacy.
Cons
  • Inability to block certain sites like Twitter consistently.
  • No password protection feature to prevent other users from unblocking sites.
  • Lacks a quick toggle or switch widget to easily enable/disable blocking.
  • Sometimes loads after the site, causing the site to load before blocking activates.

Excellent extenstion: Not only does it allow you to easily block sites, but it lets you redirect to other sites as well. I'm not certain whether or not there is password protection if you're looking to block sites for other users. Haven't looked into too much as I'm the only one who uses this computer.

ITS PERFECT: so far it is the only blocker able to complete my goals out of all the blockers with thousands of reviews this is the only one to both block the site and its sub sites and not flash the site in my face before blocking it each time on load my only request is to be able to click the addon in the extensions menu and press block/unblock site for ease of use and with that addition it has no flaw that i have noticed yet. i wish you and your extension the best of luck as at this time i am the only reviewer please keep updating this and don't give up

Extension safety

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Block Site requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.
