Turbo Download Manager (3rd edition)

A download manager with speed acceleration, site spider, dynamic segmentation, resume, pause, and download recovery

Turbo Download Manager (3rd edition) is a powerful multi-threaded download manager designed to speed up and stabilize your downloads directly in your browser. It features dynamic segmentation to fetch multiple parts of a file simultaneously, accelerating download speeds much like IDM and JDownloader. The extension supports resuming broken downloads and error recovery, so interruptions like lost connections or shutdowns won't force you to restart.

It includes a built-in HTML spider tool to detect and grab video, audio, and image sources from webpages effortlessly. Additionally, it supports pausing active downloads to manage bandwidth, and a specialized M3U8 parser for live stream downloads with AES-128 decryption. Written entirely in JavaScript with no external dependencies, Turbo Download Manager ensures smooth, efficient, and user-friendly download management integrated into your browser's environment.

User reviews

Turbo Download Manager is praised for enhancing download speeds and handling multiple downloads efficiently. However, users find the interface confusing when selecting files to download and note missing features such as prioritizing downloads or adjusting thread counts. Some have difficulty locating completed downloads and report it doesn't work perfectly for all files. Overall, it is recommended but could benefit from usability and functionality improvements.
Pros
  • Effectively increases download speed, especially with parallel downloading enabled.
  • Works well for managing multiple simultaneous downloads.
  • Recommended by users as a good download manager.
Cons
  • Confusing interface for selecting files to download from a list.
  • Lack of advanced features like download priority or thread count control.
  • Issues with locating downloaded files after completion.
  • Does not always work for all file types or downloads, leading to incomplete or failed downloads.

I like using this extension, and i would like a feature would would allow me to download online video files as a lower resolution. Definitely a bit more advanced but would be amazing.

Excellent extension. Some observations though: 1. I could never download media from the list of things selected and shown by the extension. The long list is confusing and I couldn't make out which of these several is the one I want to download. 2. A suggestion: Could you give an option to users for assigning priority to simultaneous downloads? I mean, I want the job earlier in queue to be downloaded at somewhat higher speeds (using higher bandwidth, or whatever criteria you select), and later jobs to be downloaded at somewhat lower speeds. Then when the first job finishes getting downloaded, the second job becomes new first, so its speed should be increased, and when it finishes, the third becomes the newer first, so its speed should be increased, and so on. This will guarantee that in case of net problem, not all jobs currently in progress would get aborted half finished. At least one or two earlier files would have got finished getting downloaded by then. Thanks.
