User reviews

Raindrop.io is praised for its user-friendly interface and superior bookmark management compared to Pocket, with strong recommendations from many users. However, users express frustrations about needing to transfer bookmarks to Raindrop's service with associated costs, slow and unreliable search, inconsistent functionality across platforms, lack of some expected features like keyboard shortcuts and batch folder moves, and paid AI features that are free elsewhere.
Pros
  • User-friendly and manageable interface, especially for users with many tags/categories.
  • Highly recommended and considered better than Pocket for bookmark management.
  • Effective bookmark management and saving webpages, providing a better way to bookmark.
  • Supports cross-platform usage, with some users finding it very useful and amazing.
Cons
  • Requires moving all bookmarks to Raindrop's service, which some users dislike due to syncing fees and reluctance to abandon native browser bookmarks.
  • Search functionality is slow and unreliable, often taking 10-15 seconds with frequent errors or no results.
  • Inconsistencies across platforms, including the 'Open All' function not working properly and lack of standard keyboard shortcuts.
  • Limited batch folder management, such as inability to move multiple folders simultaneously.
  • Some features that are free in Edge, like AI categorization, are paid in Raindrop, reducing its appeal for some users.

Was a big fan of pocket but this way better! Much more manageable interface if you have lots of tags/categories.

Didn't know I needed this but now I can't get along without it!

It wants me to give up my "old bookmarks", or in other words, my favorites on Edge and move them all to Raindrop, where I have to pay for cloud sync. I have my favorites synced on Edge, and there's no way I'm doing that. It is not able to search Edge bookmarks. On top of all this, I tested adding a few bookmarks to Raindrop itself, with different tags, and searches take at least 15 seconds, and 9/10 times no results, even though there definitely should be (as I searched with only "#<tag>", multiple pages with that tag were listed below before the search) - and the result after 15 seconds was "No results" and a yellow text "Error". It just doesn't work, and I don't care, because it's trying to MOVE my bookmarks to it's service instead of operating on my bookmarks as they already are, which would make way more sense. You want me to move all my bookmarks to your extension when it doesn't even work, and on the rare occasions that I do get search results, they take 10-15 seconds to find?

Extension safety

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Raindrop.io does not require any sensitive permissions.

Risk impact analysis details
  • Low Allows usage of omnibox input, negligible risk as it pertains largely to user input enhancements.
Risk likelihood
Risk likelihood measures the probability that an Edge add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Edge add-on reputation on Edge Add-on Store, the amount of time the Edge add-on has been around, and other signals about the Edge add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing an Edge add-on.

Raindrop.io has earned a fairly good reputation and likely can be trusted.
