## Description

**Local Filesystem Links** is a Firefox extension designed to recognize and open local file system URIs (`file:///`) found on any webpage. It enhances productivity by allowing users to click an added folder icon next to local file links to open directories or select files in the system's file browser. Additionally, users can select any text string representing a local file or folder path (such as `C:\Windows`) and use the context menu option "Open with default file manager" to access the local resource directly.

This extension is especially useful for those who link to local or network files from HTML pages, wikis, or documentation. It supports local disk paths and UNC network share links, handling spaces in paths effectively. Note that from Firefox 57 onward, a supplemental helper application is required for proper functioning. Also, it does not operate in Private Browsing mode or when browsing history is disabled.
