## Description

Librezam is an open-source browser extension that recognizes music playing in any tab using Shazam’s internal API with optional fallbacks to Audd, ACRCloud, Tencent and NetEase. It supports humming and cover-song recognition (where backends allow), automatic retry across backends, auto-recognition mode, and microphone recording. Results can show customizable streaming providers and include site-specific fixes for services like TikTok and RadioGarden.

Privacy-focused and community-driven, Librezam sends no telemetry unrelated to music recognition and is released under AGPL-3.0 with source on GitHub. Key features include recognition history with CSV export, CORS/Headless/ShadowRoot and AudioBufferSourceNode detection, cross-browser support (Chromium and Android Firefox), keyboard shortcuts, and troubleshooting guidance. This is an unofficial project — contributions and issue reports are welcome.

## Review summary

Librezam is praised for reliable, fast song identification across several platforms and APIs, with a polished UI and open-source design. It can identify tracks by listening to the browser's audio, offering quick results and broad coverage (Shazam, AudD, Google Music recognition, YouTube, SoundCloud). Noted downsides include a minor UX issue in the history view, the need to have the audio tab active, and occasional OS-level setup to enable audio capture.

### Pros

- Reliable and accurate song identification across multiple platforms.
- Very fast results and responsive performance.
- Multi-API/multi-platform recognition (Shazam, AudD, Google Music recognition, YouTube, SoundCloud).
- Nice UI with an open-source design.
- Identifies songs by listening to the browser's audio (on the active tab).

### Cons

- UX annoyance in the history popup where a small icon near the delete button is hard to click.
- Requires being on the tab that is playing audio (not listening across all tabs).
- May require OS-level configuration (e.g., enabling Stereo Mix on Windows) to capture audio.
