User reviews

WebNote is praised for its clean interface, ability to save text highlights and notes persistently, and color customization features. However, many users experience significant issues such as the toolbar failing to appear, the extension auto-closing or disabling itself, notes disappearing upon refresh, and confusing instructions. Storage limitations also contribute to functionality problems. While some find it useful when operational, widespread stability and usability concerns affect overall satisfaction.
Pros
  • Remembers text highlights even after closing or refreshing the page, unlike many other add-ons.
  • Interface is nice, clean, and user-friendly.
  • Allows color customization for text highlights.
  • Notes and markings persist when printing or saving as PDF.
  • Provides useful note-taking and webpage markup functionality when it works.
Cons
  • Frequently fails to work as expected, with the toolbar not appearing after text selection.
  • The add-on sometimes auto-closes or disables itself, making it unusable.
  • Notes or highlights occasionally disappear after refreshing the page.
  • The add-on has a storage limit (512 entries), possibly causing issues when full.
  • Instructions and switch toggle functionality are confusing or unclear to many users.

Unfortunately, the application doesn't work at all. Once activated and text is selected, no toolbar appears, and the application immediately closes. I've tried several times to use it, but each time with the same result (I have windows 10 and my browser is also updated). It's very disappointing as the application looks promising, and I was hoping to use it for my notes.

I never write reviews. I got this because Windows 11 doesn't have the markup web page anymore. the fact this has decent star rating is crazy. does not work and the instruction don't make sense. found this on a website and it's a scam.

Extension safety

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

WebNote requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.

This is determined by the publisher and the Edge add-on reputation on Edge Add-on Store, the amount of time the Edge add-on has been around, and other signals about the Edge add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing an Edge add-on.

WebNote has earned a fairly good reputation and likely can be trusted.
