Google Voice (by Google)

Google Voice (by Google)

Make calls with Google Voice with a click.

What is Google Voice (by Google)?
The 'Google Voice (by Google)' Chrome extension transforms your browsing experience by making phone numbers on websites interactive. When you view a website with any phone number, it instantly becomes a clickable link for a Google Voice call. The extension also allows you to manually select and right-click a phone number to initiate a call, although this may not always work. The numbers-to-links function can be turned off in the extension's settings if preferred.

Recent reviews
My caution to users is to NOT turn on the "Voice icons" feature of this extension. The GV extension tries to find phone numbers on the pages shown in the browser and add clickable GV icons following each of them. The extension options panel says that it looks for "E.164-format phone numbers". However, in practical use it could be any string of numbers. For example, I received an email in GMail from a colleague to meeting at "2021-12-07 10:00 - 11:00". The GV extension interpreted that as a phone number, putting its icon immediately after "2021-12-07 10". It's annoying to see that there, taking up space, but also the icon is a different height than the text, so it put all of the formatting off.

This extension is all but useless now. Gone is the feature to see and reply to sms messages. It's just a shortcut to google voice now. RIP my longtime friend.

Sucks now. It used to allow texting from the extension. Why is Google removing functionality?
