## Description

The territory of the Metalliferous Hills in Maremma is naturally suited<br>slow tourism and soft mobility. This app which is part of a<br>wider project involving the paths of the whole territory<br>of the Metalliferous Hills Park which is part of the World Network of<br>UNESCO geoparks, offers the possibility to discover by walking or going<br>by bike or on horseback one of the most fascinating Tuscan landscapes and still<br>little known.<br><br>The project of the Municipality of Gavorrano and the Parco delle Colline<br>Metallifere, it was made possible thanks to funding from the RDP<br>2014-2020 LEADER METHOD Measure 7.4.2 and the G.A.L. FAR MAREMMA. The end<br>of the project is to make available to all those who<br>they want to discover the medieval villages, the cultural and geological heritage<br>and environment of this corner of Maremma. The app will be implemented and<br>continuously updated with all the usability services of the<br>territory that will gradually become fully operational. The Park of the Hills<br>Metallifere of which the Municipality of Gavorrano is part, was born from the will<br>not to disperse the history of mining and metallurgy<br>that have occurred in the area for more than three millennia and that<br>they have influenced the determination of their cultural landscape. There<br>safeguarding abandoned mining sites, integrated with significant resources<br>naturalistic and shining examples of architecture and art<br>medieval, abundantly existing in the area, make up the Hills<br>Metalliferous an itinerary for a different tourism. The leitmotif is<br>the rediscovery of the traces of the mines and the work underground, but<br>also the environmental value of the woods and wetlands and the great<br>relevance of the geological heritage represented by significant geosites<br>regional, national and international.
