In the Madonna del Remedio nursing home in Oristano there are both the medicine ward and the surgery ward, guaranteeing accurate and efficient medical assistance to each patient.

The following operating units are part of the medical department:

• medicine: pathologies in the field of internal medicine, pneumology, endocrinology, diabetology, gastroenterology and radiological, endoscopic and ultrasound examinations.

• digestive endoscopy: which includes exams performed for esophagogastroduodenoscopy (egds) with and without biopsy, colonoscopy with and without biopsy, endoscopic polypectomy, digestive pathophysiology tests for food intolerance and for helicobacter pylori research.

• cardiology: for cardiac pathologies such as hypertensive heart disease, ischemic heart disease, heart failure, arrhythmias and angina.

• neurology: for the diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases, epilepsy, cerebrovascular diseases, headaches, neuromuscular diseases, diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system.

• rehabilitation: health services are provided for the treatment and functional recovery of patients suffering from mental, physical and sensory impairments, suffering from acute cerebrovascular diseases and orthopedic cases, with reference to polytrauma patients and joint prosthetic operations.

The following operating units are part of the surgery department:

• general surgery: colon proctology, laparoscopic, breast, vascular phlebological surgery and oncological dermo-surgery.

• vascular access surgery: arteriovenous fistula operations and central venous catheter implantation are performed for dialysis patients.

• urology: diagnosis and treatment of urological pathologies, surgery on the uro-genital system of men and women, post-hospitalization control, prophylaxis of bladder cancer recurrence, early diagnosis of prostate cancer and urinary stones treatment.

• extracorporeal lithotripsy: treatment of urinary stones using the shock wave lithotriptor.

• otolaryngology: nose and paranasal sinuses, oral cavity, adenotonsillectomy, ear and dizziness.

• ophthalmology: surgery of cataracts, glaucoma, cornea and retina, lacrimal ducts, eyelid and appendages, yag-laser for the treatment of secondary cataracts and argon laser for laser therapy in retinal diseases.
