Sambhashini

Learning Sanskrit through four different dimensions.
1. Communication: This is primarily important in the beginning of the learning process.
2. Grammar: For the creative independence, especially in the case of Sanskrit which is rich in word formation, the knowledge of lexis, morphology, sandhi formation, and the perception of syntactico-semantic relations (viz. Kāraka theory) is a must.
3. Subhāṣita: It is a genre of Sanskrit verse which is concise, metrical and thus easy to memorize. It offers moral guidance, advice, lessons, worldly wisdom, and sometimes even riddles.
4. Games: Language games provide language practice in a relaxed and engaging atmosphere

The lessons are organized around situational themes such as self-introduction, market interactions, celebrations, festivals, cultural tourism, etc. Each theme contains structured lessons designed to develop contextualized language use. To reinforce learning, the platform has multiple types of learning and assessment cards, including:
• Fill-in-the-blanks
• Sentence-building tasks
• Matching the pairs
• Audio choices
These activities integrate images and audio supporting the learning.

A key feature of Sambhāṣinī is its support for learning through the mother tongue and preferred script. This script-independent design removes a major barrier to learning the Devanāgarī script for beginners and allows the learners to focus on the language before the script. The current version supports English, Marathi, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Bangla.
