## Description

Image Reader (OCR) is a Chrome extension that extracts text from any image using two open-source OCR engines: Tesseract.js and IBM Granite Docling. Choose Tesseract for lightweight, language-pack-based OCR or Granite Docling for a more advanced neural model (note: Granite requires downloading ~1200MB of model data). The extension fetches necessary language and model data from public repositories, so large language packs are downloaded on demand rather than bundled.

To use the extension, open its interface, upload an image via the file selector, and choose your OCR engine and language or backend (CPU/GPU). Results are returned as selectable text you can copy and use. Ideal for converting screenshots, scanned documents, and photos into editable text. Report bugs via the extension homepage bug form.
