## Description

Shadowrocket is a rule-based proxy utility for iPhone/iPad that captures all HTTP/HTTPS/TCP traffic and routes it through a proxy server. It records and displays HTTP, HTTPS, and DNS requests from your iOS devices, and lets you configure flexible rules using domain matches, suffixes, keywords, CIDR ranges, and GeoIP lookups.

It also measures traffic usage and network speed over WiFi, cellular, direct and proxy connections, supports DNS over HTTPS/TLS/QUIC, local DNS mapping, ad blocking by domain and user-agent rules, URL rewriting, and a multi-level forward proxy. It supports plugins like kcptun, cloak, gost, and v2ray, decrypts HTTPS traffic, and lets you import rule files from URL or iCloud Drive, with IPv6 and scripting filters.

## Review summary

Shadowrocket is praised for stability, ease of use, a one-time purchase model, broad protocol support, and cross-device usefulness. However, multiple reviews highlight VLESS-related issues, download/renew/update failures, government blocks in China, notable battery drain and overheating, and disconnections at high speeds or with certain transports. Overall sentiment is mixed: solid core features are hampered by protocol quirks, reliability flaws, and regulatory constraints.

### Pros

- Stable and reliable performance over years as reported by long-time users.
- Easy to use and perceived as professional by reviewers.
- One-time purchase model with a reasonable price point.
- Supports multiple protocols and flexible configurations (e.g., WireGuard, SOCKS5, etc.).
- Good cross-device support including APNs and anticipated macOS version for broader use.

### Cons

- VLESS protocol issues: some reports of VLESS not working and lack of proxy passthrough.
- Download/activation/update problems: failures to download, renew subscriptions, or update the app.
- China restrictions: reviews mention government crackdown or being blocked in China.
- Battery drain and device overheating: increased power usage and heat after updates.
- Disconnections or transport issues at high speeds (notably with xhttp/TLS) and related protocol limitations (e.g., UDP/Wi-Fi calling).
