## Description

The London Review of Books app brings Europe’s leading magazine of books and ideas to your device. Read offline, access the latest issue on Wednesdays, save articles for later, resize text for comfortable reading, and toggle dark mode. It also includes a decade-long archive dating back to 2014.

Subscribing via the app: the app is free to download and includes a free preview issue. LRB subscribers can sign in with their LRB website login to access the app without a separate subscription. In-app purchases let you buy individual issues or an annual subscription. Subscriptions are charged to your Apple account and auto-renew unless turned off. Subscriptions via the app do not include access to the LRB website and online archive. If your subscription lapses, you can still read issues published while you were active.

## Review summary

Users praise the LRB app for high-quality, diverse content and a generally easy, distraction-free reading experience. The top drawbacks are typography/readability (small font, few size options), missing in-app features (annotations, bookmarks, read-later, syncing), incomplete digital edition of the print version, subscription verification issues, and navigation quirks (swipe misnavigation, no paging or reading-position memory). Overall, content and usability are strong, but several feature and reliability gaps recur across reviews.

### Pros

- High-quality, diverse, and insightful content across culture, politics, art, and literature.
- Easy-to-use app with a simple layout, intuitive navigation, and straightforward search and article saving.
- Distraction-free reading experience with a clean interface that keeps focus on the writing.
- Stellar content with an attractive, easy-to-navigate online presence.

### Cons

- Typography/reading size is too small with limited options; dynamic type is not supported.
- Missing essential features like in-app annotations/highlighting, bookmarking, a dedicated read-later space, and cross-device syncing.
- No digital version of the print edition, making the reading experience feel incomplete.
- Subscription/account verification bugs (being told you don’t have a subscription) and occasional subscription issues.
- Navigation/reading-flow flaws such as accidental swipes to the next story and no memory of reading position (no paging, infinite scroll).
