## Description

Tinnitus Aid helps people understand and relieve tinnitus symptoms. Based on notched sound therapy research, it lets you apply precise filters to over 250 high-quality sounds to identify and mask ringing frequencies. Use a bandpass filter to isolate your tinnitus frequency and a bandstop filter to create your personalized mask. Filters can be applied to one or both ears, with independent left-right frequencies and widths, and you can tune widths from 0.1 to 4.0 octaves at 1 Hz resolution.

You can adjust the volume balance between ears, blend up to four sounds, and enjoy a modern, easy-to-use interface with high-definition imagery. The app runs in the background and includes a timer with slow fade-out. Free access includes natural sounds, unlimited mixes, and a sample of the advanced filters; a subscription unlocks unlimited use of the advanced filters, all current and future sounds, and an ad-free experience.

## Review summary

Users broadly report the app can effectively mask tinnitus and aid sleep when customized, with a large sound library and long timer as key positives. However, multiple reviews flag downsides: limited free features with heavy upsell pressure, a confusing UI with constant purchase prompts, occasional ineffectiveness or insufficient volume for some users, and intrusive ads. These usability and cost concerns limit its appeal despite potential benefits for many.

### Pros

- Masks tinnitus effectively and helps with sleep.
- Offers extensive customization and mixing of sounds (including left-ear control).
- Large variety of soothing sounds and a long timer for overnight use.
- Free sounds are available and useful before upgrading.

### Cons

- Free version is limited and there’s a strong push to upgrade to paid features.
- The app can be confusing to use and frequently prompts for purchases.
- Not all users find it effective; some report sounds aren’t loud enough or don’t reduce tinnitus.
- Ads and promotions are intrusive.
