## Description

Unity Remote 5 lets you view and test your Unity projects on an iOS device in real time directly from the Unity Editor, eliminating the need to build and deploy for every change. It streams input and device events—touch, MFi gamepad, Siri remote, accelerometer, gyroscope, webcam, and screen orientation—back to the editor for rapid iteration.

Compatible with Unity versions newer than 5.0; some advanced features require Unity 5.4+. Full documentation is available in the Unity Manual.

## Rankings

## Review summary

Unity Remote 5 is helpful for testing on a real iPhone, especially for quick control checks, but it’s setup-heavy and frequently unreliable. Repeated complaints include needing iTunes, reliance on a USB cable with no wireless mode, lag and crashes, and poor long-term reliability. Users also cite limited support and sparse documentation, with slow updates on features like the new input system.

### Pros

- Enables testing on a real iPhone/iOS device, which many users find helpful.
- Can work well when properly set up (e.g., with iTunes installed and a working cable).
- Useful for testing controls and mobile interactions on a device.

### Cons

- Requires installing iTunes on your computer to function.
- Requires USB cable for use; no wireless testing option available.
- Poor performance: lag, crashes, and unreliable responsiveness during testing.
- Reliability issues where the app can stop working or become completely broken across sessions or updates.
- Limited official support/documentation and slow feature updates, with unclear Mac guidance and delayed responsiveness to issues.
