READ AND SEARCH WHEN CONNECTIONS FAIL
A small included collection provides titles and abstracts on first launch. Locally cached and saved paper metadata remain searchable when online services are unavailable. Offline results are limited to what is on your device. Download PDFs and readable text with figures in advance for full offline reading. New online papers and AI require a connection.

KEEP YOUR OWN THOUGHTS
Save papers, highlight readable passages and add notes even to PDF-only papers. Resume reading and export or import a backup of library data, notes and reading positions. PDF and figure files must be downloaded on each device.

OPTIONAL ACCOUNTS AND AI
Use Paperlane without an account, or sign in with Google, Apple or X to sync your private library. Your guest library stays separate unless you choose to copy it. Account deletion is available in Settings. Source search works without an API key. Optional Agnes AI explanations have shared usage limits; personal provider billing and limits apply if you choose your own key. Permission is requested before sharing questions and public abstracts. Private notes and library records are not sent to AI.

Paperlane is independent of arXiv. Preprints may not be peer reviewed. Always check important details in the source paper.
