Small text, crowded screens, and audio that plays a whole verse when what you needed was one letter. Miftah al-Huruf was built the other way round. It started as an accessibility project, and that shaped every screen. BUILT FOR HOW YOU ACTUALLY READ Before you learn a single letter, you can set the app up to suit you: • Six text sizes, up to very large • Adjustable letter spacing and line spacing • Five colour overlays for visual stress, plus a high-contrast mode • Three Arabic fonts, so you can pick the one your eye follows best • Reduce-motion option • Recitation speed from 0.5x to 1.25x, with the pitch kept natural • Focus mode, showing one word at a time instead of a full verse • Learner profiles that apply a whole set of these in one tap, including Visual Overload, Slow Processor, Motor Difficulty, Adult Beginner and Child These are not buried in a settings menu three levels down. They are one tap from every screen, and they stay set. Nothing depends on hearing the audio, either. Transliteration and English translation can stay on screen throughout. THE 28 LETTERS Every letter with its name, its sound, and a plain-English description of its shape — "three small teeth in a row", "a curved tail dipping below the line". Tap once and you hear the letter named, then pronounced. Recorded example words for every letter. A quick quiz when you want to test yourself. MAKHAARIJ — WHERE EACH LETTER COMES FROM A labelled cross-section of the mouth, throat and nose showing all sixteen articulation points, from the deep throat through the tongue to the lips. Tap any point to read how that sound is formed and hear the letters that belong to it. This is the part most apps leave out, and it is the part that fixes pronunciation. QAIDA — LEARN TO READ Twenty-three lessons in order, from a letter carrying no vowel through to knowing where to stop. Each shows exactly which letters the rule acts on, and gives words from the Qur'an to practise on. TAJWEED The eleven core rules, each with an example and a reference to the verse it comes from. The rule's own letters are picked out. MEMORISE Al-Fatihah and the whole of Juz 'Amma — 38 surahs, 571 verses. Arabic, English transliteration and translation. WORKS OFFLINE The letters, the diagram, the fonts and the entire Qur'an text are inside the app. No account, no sign-in.
