## Description

Stringz is a guitar tuner and metronome built for your wrist first.

Most tuners treat the Apple Watch as an afterthought. Stringz works the other way round: everything happens on the watch, and the iPhone app mirrors it on a bigger screen. Settings follow you between the two.

THE METRONOME

• Spin the Digital Crown to set the tempo from 40 to 240 BPM. Tap anywhere to start and stop.
• Feel every beat, hear it, or neither — the pulse on screen keeps time on its own, so you can practise silently.
• Time signatures from 2/4 through 7/8, with an accented downbeat you can switch off.
• Subdivisions: eighths, triplets and sixteenths.
• Tap tempo, for matching a song by ear.
• Keeps running when you lower your wrist.

THE TUNER

• Automatic mode: play a string and Stringz names it, shows how many cents off you are, and tells you which way to turn the peg.
• Manual mode: tap a string to hear it, strum across all six, or hold one to sustain it for as long as you need.
• Tune by ear against a real plucked string tone, not a flat electronic beep.
• Adjustable reference pitch, 415 to 455 Hz.

BUILT PROPERLY

• A pitch detector that doesn't mistake a plucked low E for the octave above — the mistake most tuners make, because that string's fundamental is quieter than its harmonics.
• Metronome timing computed from a fixed anchor rather than accumulated, so it cannot drift however long you practise.
• Haptics tuned per beat, so the downbeat feels different from the rest of the bar.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT

• No accounts, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics.
• No network requests at all. The app has no networking code in it.
• The microphone is used only to measure pitch, in real time, on your device. Audio is never recorded, saved or sent anywhere.

FREE, PROPERLY FREE

Every feature is free and always will be. There are no paywalls, no subscriptions and nothing held back. If Stringz becomes part of your practice, there is an optional tip jar in Settings — it unlocks nothing, because there is nothing left to unlock.
