## Description

Converting a foreign driving license to a Japanese one — gaimen kirikae — starts with a knowledge test on the rules of the road. This app is how you get ready for it.
1,000 true/false questions and 127 road-sign cards cover the rules you will be asked about. This is preparation for the written test only: the practical driving test and the eyesight check are not part of it.

■ The test is stricter than it looks
The knowledge test is 50 questions in 30 minutes, and you have to get 45 of them right — 90% — to pass. The National Police Agency of Japan put the pass rate at 42.8% for October to December 2025.
Everyday driving sense is not enough. The numbers and the exceptions are what trip people up, and those you simply have to learn. Every question here follows the road traffic rules that take effect in Japan in September 2026.
