Couchpilot turns your iPhone into a remote for the television you already own.

It talks to your TV directly over your home Wi-Fi. There is no account to create, no cloud service in between, and nothing to plug in. Open the app, let it find your TV, and start controlling it.

FINDS YOUR TV BY ITSELF
Couchpilot scans your network, identifies the television, and tells you whether it is ready to pair. If your TV needs a setting switched on first, it says which one and where to find it, instead of failing silently.

BUILT FOR ONE-HANDED USE
A large thumb-friendly D-pad, press-and-hold repeat for scrolling long lists, a volume rocker showing the real level from the TV, and haptic feedback on every press.

YOUR INPUTS AND APPS, ONE TAP AWAY
Couchpilot reads the input names you set on the television, so a games console appears under the name you gave it rather than "HDMI 1". Your most-used input and app sit on the main screen; everything else is one tap away in a searchable list.

COMPATIBILITY
Couchpilot speaks two open local-network control protocols that televisions publish themselves:

- IP control, available on many televisions from 2013 onward. You switch it on in the television's own network settings, then pair with either a key you set there or a passcode the television displays on screen.
- External Control Protocol, used by a range of streaming players and the televisions built around them. No setup and no password needed.

Couchpilot detects which protocol your television speaks and tells you directly. If it speaks neither, the app still finds it on the network and says plainly that it is not supported yet, rather than leaving you guessing. The current compatibility list is kept on the support page.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no servers. Couchpilot collects nothing about you. Everything it stores, your television's address and its pairing credential, stays on your device, with the credential held in the iOS Keychain.
