## Description

LatheMate Cutting Calc puts essential lathe setup math on your phone or tablet. It's built for hobby machinists, model engineers, and trade students who want to spend less time on calculations and more time making chips.

Start by choosing a material from the built-in library of 18 common workshop materials—aluminum, mild steel, stainless, brass, acetal, and more—and a tool type such as HSS or carbide insert. Enter the workpiece diameter and LatheMate instantly recommends spindle speed in RPM, surface speed in SFM or m/min, feed per revolution, and depth of cut. Toggle roughing and finishing passes to see appropriate settings for the material and tool pair you are using.

When it is time to cut threads, the threading wizard guides you through metric and imperial 60° V-threads. It shows tap-drill diameter, thread depth, compound-rest angle, and recommended threading speed. Need a taper? The taper wizard covers Morse tapers MT0–MT5 and custom tapers, with visual guidance for setting tailstock offset or compound slide angle.

Everything is stored on your device with SwiftData. There is no account, no internet connection, and no cloud dependency, so this tool keeps working right next to your lathe. You can build a personal material and tool library, convert between fractional inches, decimal inches, millimeters, and common drill sizes, and export a one-page PDF quick-reference card for the machine.

The WidgetKit home-screen widget keeps the latest speed and material selection one glance away. Whether you are switching inserts, picking stock, or setting up a new job, LatheMate helps you get the numbers right before you engage the spindle.
