WHAT YOU NEED
You need a digital piano or keyboard with a USB or MIDI port. You'll also need a cable or adapter to connect it to your iPhone or iPad. Clef reads the keys you press through MIDI. It does not use a microphone or work with acoustic pianos.

Clef is currently free. Sign up in the app with email and password, Google, or Apple. If you have a Clef account, sign in to use it here too.

LEARN A PIECE AND KEEP IT
Clef tests each bar from memory and plans when to review it. The goal is to keep the music under your fingers long after you learn it.

Every few bars, you play a longer stretch from memory. Each stretch shares bars with the last one. This helps you link the bars into a whole piece.

PRACTICE AT YOUR OWN PACE
Tap any bar in the score to start from there.
Use the built-in metronome and raise the tempo as you improve.
Clef checks each note in trills, turns and mordents too.
A beginner view puts each sharp and flat next to its note. You don't have to keep the key signature in your head.
Clef tracks your fastest clean tempo for each bar. See which bars need more work.

SHEET MUSIC CHECKED BY HAND
We engrave and check each piece by hand. The catalog is small and growing. You can request the pieces you want to learn.

CONNECT YOUR PIANO
Web browsers on iPhone and iPad lack MIDI support. The Clef app adds the link from your piano to your score.
