## Description

Take a photo, identify the plant, collect it in your digital herbarium and mark the spot on the garden map. Photos and results stay on your device.

Plant Scanner identifies plants from a photo and collects every identification in a digital herbarium on your iPhone or iPad.

PHOTO AND IDENTIFICATION
• Take a photo with the camera or pick one from your photo library
• Identification through the Pl@ntNet interface, called via a proxy server
• Result list with the scientific name, the common name (when available) and a confidence value in percent
• Up to 20 identification requests per device per day

DIGITAL HERBARIUM
• Every identification you save stays in the herbarium, on the device
• Detail view with photo, scientific name, confidence, family and genus
• Family and genus come from the Pl@ntNet identification result

GARDEN MAP
• Mark the spots where you found a plant on a map – school garden, flower bed or a walk
• Location is only recorded if you grant access; identification works the same way without it

PRIVACY
• Photos and identifications are stored locally on the device
• Before the image is uploaded for identification it is re-compressed, which removes EXIF data including GPS
• The proxy stores no images; for the daily limit a randomly generated device identifier is sent that is tied to no account and no person
• No user account, no sign-in

INTERFACE
• SwiftUI interface for iPhone and iPad, iOS 17 and later
• Status is shown with SF Symbols in addition to color
• VoiceOver labels for photos, locations and controls

Please note: identification is automated and can be wrong. Do not use Plant Scanner as the only basis for deciding whether a plant is edible or non-toxic.
