Can't decide? Flip it, spin it, ask it, or roll it. Whim is a small, cheerful toolkit for handing a decision over to chance, and for the simple pleasure of flipping a coin or spinning a wheel just because your hands want something to do.

Open it when you're can't decide on dinner, or when you just want to watch the coin spin.

WHAT'S INSIDE

• ANSWER BALL: ask a yes-or-no question, tap the ball or give your phone a shake, and watch the answer rise up out of the dark. 

• COIN FLIP: heads or tails, or write your own sides ("pizza" vs. "tacos," "go" vs. "stay home"). Swipe up to flip. 

• WHEEL: build a list of anything and give it a flick. Save your favorite lists for lunch spots, movie nights, chores, or whose turn it is. 

• NUMBERS: a random number from any range you set, with a no-repeat raffle mode for one at a time until they're all gone. 

• DICE: d4 through d100, any count you want, a modifier, and a drop-the-lowest option. Sized for tabletop night and anything else you need to roll.

MORE THAN A DECISION MAKER: Plenty of reasons to open Whim have nothing to do with deciding anything. A coin is satisfying to flip while you think something over. A wheel is fun to spin while you're on hold, waiting for a bus, or just restless. A shake before a big question and a toss before a small one give an ordinary moment a bit of ceremony, and a bit of play.

A LOOK FOR EVERY MOOD: Every theme in Whim reworks the coin, the ball, the wheel, the dice, the sounds, and even the app icon into something new. Classic, Arcade, and Zen come free with the app. Beyond those, a growing shelf of looks ranges from a candlelit tavern to the depths of a dragon's hoard, a moonlit bog, a storybook meadow, a marble tower above the clouds, and a 1920s hotel lobby at midnight, with more on the way. Switch your theme across the app with a couple of taps.

WIDGETS: Flip the coin or ask the ball straight from your home screen. The widget can wear its own theme too, separate from whatever the app is wearing.
