## Description

Research VAS for iPhone and iPad. Calibrate a 10 cm scale, draw responses like paper, manage study conditions and items, and export results as XLSX. Offline, no ads.

Bring your paper VAS workflow to iPhone and iPad.

rVAS is a flexible Visual Analog Scale (VAS) app for research and surveys, combining study setup, data collection, automatic scoring, and XLSX export.

No more printing paper forms, measuring responses with a ruler, or manually entering results into Excel. The VAS scale is calibrated on each device to a physical length of 10 cm, and participants respond by drawing a line on the scale much like they would on paper.

Standard-mode VAS measurement can be performed on an iPhone when the device can display the full 10 cm scale. Because the larger display provides more room for experiment operation, we recommend using an iPad when conducting studies.

【Flexible study design】

- Add multiple conditions or stimuli
- Create multiple VAS rating items
- Set repetitions for each condition
- Create custom or randomized presentation-order patterns
- Assign an order to each participant
- Customize condition names, item names, and anchor labels
- Save and reuse project settings

【iPhone and iPad support】

Standard-mode VAS measurement is available on iPhone and iPad when the device can display the full 10 cm scale. VAS measurement on iPhone is performed in landscape orientation.

Double-mode items can be configured on an iPhone, but experiments containing double-mode items can only be run on an iPad.

Project designs can be exported as .rvas files. For example, you can prepare a project on an iPhone, import it on an iPad, and run the experiment there.

Projects, experiment data, and calibration values are not automatically synced between devices.

【Presentation order preserved】

When conditions are randomized, rVAS records the order in which they were actually shown.

Exports include both the actual presentation order and a standardized condition order. VAS values can also be exported with the condition, rating item, trial, repetition, presentation order, and response timestamp.

【A paper-like VAS response】

Instead of dragging a conventional slider, participants draw a line on the scale with a finger or compatible stylus. Apple Pencil can also be used on supported iPads.

rVAS keeps the familiar paper-based response method while automating position measurement, value calculation, and data recording.

Studies comparing electronic and paper VAS have reported high correlations and good agreement.

【Works offline and keeps data local】

- Core features work without an internet connection
- No ads
- No account required
- Measurement data is stored on the device
- No automatic transmission to external servers
- Export through Files, AirDrop, or the system share sheet

Data is shared only when you choose to export or share it. We recommend using anonymized or pseudonymized participant IDs rather than directly identifying information such as names.

【Try all features free for 14 days】

All features are available free for 14 days from first use.

After the trial, users without an active subscription can no longer create new projects or start new measurement sessions. Saved projects and results remain viewable and exportable.

Ending the trial or subscription does not remove access to previously saved research data.

rVAS is not a medical device and is not intended for diagnosis or treatment decisions. It is designed to support subjective rating collection in research and survey settings.
