Every great plein air painting was made somewhere real. Plein Air maps those places — the riverbanks, harbors, gardens, and streets where the Impressionists and their contemporaries set up their easels — and lets you stand, in the app or in person, exactly where they stood.

Open the map and 140+ paintings appear as pins across 14 regions, from Monet's Giverny to Sorolla's Valencia, Sargent's Venice, and the Skagen painters of Denmark. Tap any spot to see the painting, then turn it over to compare the artist's canvas with a photograph of the same view today. A century apart, side by side.
