HanVietDictionary is a tool for overseas Vietnamese to learn the meanings of many common Vietnamese words that are of Chinese origin.

Learners can search for words in Vietnamese to discover their meaning, including the meaning of personal names. Learners will also be able to see how the same Han character is read in different languages including Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, and Japanese. HanVietDictionary isn't a regular dictionary, it provides the meaning of individual words to encourage learners to combine meanings logically to understand the logic of compound words.

For Vietnamese learners of Chinese, HanVietDictionary is a great tool to find the Vietnamese readings of Chinese characters. Search for Chinese characters you are curious about and the various Vietnamese readings will appear to help you solidify your language learning in your native Vietnamese.

HanVietDictionary also supports native-Vietnamese words of non-Chinese origin. This is chữ Nôm. Curious learners can see how their ancestors wrote words and represented the Vietnamese language using Chinese-style characters.
