Food Label Lens turns your iPhone camera into a private food-label reader. Point it at the ingredients list on any packaged food: the app reads the printed text on your device, picks out every additive and ingredient it recognises, and sorts them into a clear basket with E-numbers, functional categories and an at-a-glance safety rating.

NO BARCODE NEEDED
Food Label Lens reads the actual label, not a database entry. It works on local, imported, artisan and brand-new products that barcode scanners have never heard of — in any shop, anywhere in the world.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Scan a whole ingredients panel in real time instead of looking up one item at a time
• Recognise E-numbers, INS codes, additive names and common synonyms, even through camera blur and OCR typos
• See each substance's functional class: colour, preservative, sweetener, emulsifier, stabiliser, thickener, flavour enhancer, antioxidant, acidity regulator and more
• Check the safety rating at a glance: green Safe, amber Caution, red Avoid
• Tap any item for a plain-language explanation, vegan and vegetarian suitability and, where available, its structural formula
• Browse the built-in Checkup library of 600+ additives and ingredients (500+ E-numbers) by name, synonym, E-number, category or risk
• Read labels printed in 8 languages: English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, Korean, French, Spanish and Italian — E-numbers are recognised in any language

FOOD LENS PLUS
Scanning and the safety basics are always free. Plus adds:
• Personal avoid-lists — flag individual substances, whole categories or quick profiles (colours, sweeteners, preservatives, flavour enhancers, common allergens, anything rated Caution or Avoid) and get alerted the moment you scan
• Saved scan history — keep a gallery of every product you have checked, with the label photo
• Photo import — scan a label from your photo library
• Extended substance profiles and full sources

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Text recognition runs entirely on your iPhone using Apple's Vision framework. No account, no cloud processing, no photos uploaded. It works offline in any aisle. The interface is available in 10 languages and follows Light or Dark mode.
