Hautschutzengel – The Independent Cosmetics App

Scan the barcode or ingredient label of your favorite product and instantly see what is really inside: ingredients (INCI) explained in plain language, including German translation, origin, function, and rating — easy to understand for everyone, not just chemists!

What you can do with the app:

Scan the barcode of cosmetic products
Take a photo of the ingredient label
Enter ingredients manually
Search for products, brands, or ingredients
Filter for vegan, fragrance-free, silicone-free, non-comedogenic products, and more
Filter by your personal skin profile for tailored recommendations
Mark ingredients you want to avoid, for example due to allergies — the app shows you which products contain them
Save your favorites
View your scan history

The app is based on the Hautschutzengel database, which has been maintained for over 18 years, and follows the Hautschutzengel evaluation philosophy: no anonymous scoring system, but an honest assessment that may still recommend a product even if it contains less-than-ideal ingredients, as long as it offers an important benefit for skin protection or skin improvement.
