Imagine holding the wonders of the insect world right in your hands. AR Insects is an interactive augmented reality project developed at the Emerging Analytics Center (EAC) that brings lifelike bugs into your environment with just a smartphone or tablet.


Using AR technology, users scan special image targets, and instantly — a butterfly, roach, firefly, bee, or tick comes to life, popping out of the screen in vivid 3D. Each insect is fully animated, complete with natural sounds and dynamic reactions to user interaction. Tap an insect and watch it respond — buzzing louder, glowing, or triggering special behaviors.

The experience doesn’t stop at first glance. Users can move their device to explore the insects from any angle, seeing them as if they were physically present, adding depth and realism that captivates audiences of all ages.
AR Insects is a blend of education, entertainment, and cutting-edge technology, demonstrating the powerful ways augmented reality can make learning and exploration truly unforgettable.
